Lots can make teeth look prettier, look better, but if we don’t pay attention to how they function, they won’t last as long. And so I think that’s a huge differentiation that we have, that we have a lot of meds trading in, you know, whether it be TMJ or whether it be occlusion, or how people bite. But also a lot of advanced training in pure just cosmetics, like how to prepare the teeth, how to work with the lab to take all the guesswork out. And that’s really where we start, is that we do everything ahead of time on models of the patient before we ever start anything cosmetic.
And so we know already how it’s going to look, size, shape. We have a good idea on what color we wanna go to. All that’s done ahead of time, outside of the mouth, and gone over with the patients before we ever start. It’s night and day. I mean, especially those that have been very self-conscious or very aware of either lack of smiling where patients have trained their lips to cover their teeth and cover their mouth, or even, one lady had trained herself to hold her hand over her mouth and never realized it, till after we did some cosmetic work, and she was smiling all the time, and her hand stayed down on her lap, it didn’t go up anymore.
But yeah, I mean, it changes everything because it’s not just that they smile more, but that changes all the musculature, too. When we smile more, we use the right muscles in our face versus, you know, frown or neutral tends to pull down more on our skin and our tissue. So, I mean, it has a huge effect and function, too. People weren’t eating as well, weren’t taking care of themself nutrition-wise as well, and, you know, cosmetic dentistry can restore function as well to help them with that.
